an introduction
Hi I’m keith…
Colorado born painter and craftsman Keith K. Brewer began in home building and remodeling, evolving into fine carpentry and furniture building. Early in his career he began painting his furniture designs and became enamored with using industrial oils, eventually expanding his work to create moderate sized paintings on HBP (a cementitious panel). He found the texture and the weight of the panel unique and pleasing to work on, but difficult to transport because of weight and fragility. He ultimately found sturdy, lighter weight panels in MDO, that he could easily prep with the kind of base textures he needed, and can now create larger, more easily transportable pieces.
Keith’s painting style was first inspired by many works of the modern art movement, in particular the abstract expressionists. It has evolved into his own unique layering of textures and color to create a depth and complexity of brush, blade and brawn, giving the viewer a sense of highly physical movement, that is finally suspended, at a single, sudden moment in time. Keith now lives and paints in Tempe, Arizona.
