“Above Ground Level”

Growing up in northern Colorado my brother and I loved seeing the different brand marks on the cattle. Often times you would see the marks burned into barn doors or entry gates to a ranch.

I remember asking my grandad Brewer why all the cows needed branded and him telling me, they weren’t smart enough to know who they belonged to, so the brand would remind them.

In this world everything is connected!

Often tangled, but still connected.

As though all hell has broken loose, maybe a tornado sucking up a whole farm and everyone on it or one of those cartoon brawls where a number of people and their cats and dogs are all fighting in a small sphere of assholes and elbows, or maybe it’s what goes on inside ones mind when stress builds, possibly a lost child, or extreme pressure at work, or sometimes something as small as lost car key’s. You get the “picture”.

Valentina trained originally as a professional opera singer, but in 1934 at the age of 22 while visiting the United States, she heard Billie Holliday sing at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem and her musical focus changed forever.

She spent the rest of her 42 year career dedicated to jazz, spreading the intoxicating music across Italy.

People often ask, I’ve never even heard of Valentina Moretti, was she really a great jazz singer? To which I respond, oh yes, I’ve always imagined she was!

As a kid I never liked what is now referred to as “Mid century modern” but have since found it’s architecture and design quite comforting.

This painting is a nod to some of the art of that period.

This singer was always destined for stardom. He made his big splash on this very stage in 2013 and has been there ever since.

What more is there to say?

This one really “Pops”!

Lots of movement, many layers, much intensity!

Relating to or denoting the neoclassical style of Andrea Palladio, in particular with reference to the phrase of English architecture from c. 1715, when there was a revival of interest in Palladio and his follower, Inigo Jones, and a reaction against baroque.

There, I got that out, it’s interesting, well thought out, concise and sounds intellectual, but has nothing to do with this painting. I sincerely hope that satisfies those who like or (need) interesting, well thought out, concise and intelligent sounding discriptions. Enjoy.
